How a fence or gate gets built
Every job runs on its own calendar. Your quote comes with a written schedule, from the site visit to the day you get the keys to the gate.

Site visit
We measure the run or the opening, the slope, the swing path and the utility lines. No quote is written from photographs.
- 02
Drawings
An elevation and a section with the real cut list — post spacing, tube, gauge, species, finish, operator model.
- 03
Permits
LADBS submittal and HOA design review handled. Skipping the permit costs you the finished fence or gate.
- 04
Fabrication
Cut, welded, ground and coated in the shop, not in your driveway. Hardwood is milled and finished first.
- 05
Install & handover
Posts, panels, footings and hardware — then a UL 325 entrapment test on any powered gate, with you standing there. You keep the drawing set.

Two identical gates six miles apart are not the same job
- Wind
- A solid leaf over 6′ on an exposed ridge is a sail. Post, footing and operator are sized to the load, or the gate tears off its track inside two winters.
- Salt
- Coastal Santa Monica gets hot-dip galvanised substrate under the powder coat. Inland Encino does not need it, and charging for it there would be dishonest.
- Grade
- Hillside runs get stepped panels on level rails. Raking a panel to follow the slope is quicker and always looks wrong from the street.
- Code
- Pool barriers are set by code, not preference: no climbable horizontal inside, self-closing and self-latching leaf, latch height fixed.
