Working in Los Angeles
We work across the west side and the valley, and the specification changes as you cross it. Coastal jobs get galvanised substrate; hillside jobs get stepped panels and deeper downhill footings; exposed ridges get posts and operators sized to wind load. Same crew, different build.
What does not change is where it is made. Everything is cut, welded, ground and coated in the Tarzana shop before it reaches your driveway.
One shop, a wide service area
Everything built anywhere across the west side and the valley is cut, welded, ground and coated in the same Tarzana shop before it reaches a driveway. That single-shop model is what keeps the specification consistent from a coastal Santa Monica job to a hillside Bel Air estate to a flat Encino lot — the crew, the materials and the fabrication standard do not change with the neighbourhood, even though the design does.
It also means every finished gate anywhere in the county has passed through the same quality check before it ever leaves the shop, rather than being fabricated by a different subcontractor depending on which part of the city the job happens to fall in.
The specification changes with the site, not the postcode
A coastal job gets galvanised substrate; a hillside job gets stepped panels and deeper downhill footings; an exposed ridge gets posts and an operator sized to wind load rather than leaf weight alone. None of that is decided by which neighbourhood a property sits in on a map — it is decided by what the actual site presents, which is why we walk every site rather than quoting a standard build against an address.
Two properties a mile apart can end up with meaningfully different specifications if one sits on a slope and the other does not, or one catches onshore wind that the other is sheltered from.
Permits and design review vary by jurisdiction
LADBS handles permitting for most of the city and unincorporated county areas we work in, but several of the communities we serve — Beverly Hills and West Hollywood among them — run their own separate plan-check process with their own requirements. We handle the correct submission for wherever the property actually sits rather than defaulting to one process everywhere.
HOA and architectural review boards are a separate layer again, common in the hillside and estate neighbourhoods and largely absent on a standard flats lot, and we scope the timeline accordingly at quote rather than after the fact.
Typical project mix across the county
Driveway gates and fence installation make up the bulk of new work everywhere we serve, with the split between them shifting by neighbourhood — more gate-led work in the hills and on larger lots, more fence-led work on denser flats and coastal streets. Repair and service calls are a steady share of the work regardless of area, since gates and fences fail in broadly the same ways wherever they are installed.
What stays constant is the twenty-two years of doing it from the same shop, with the same crew building nearly everything that gets fabricated under the company’s name.
